Remembrance Park to hold Community Meetings

The A/CEO of Remembrance Parks has organised a series of community meetings to hear first-hand from families who had items removed from graves by the organisation earlier this year.

Ms Maureen O’Keefe joined Remembrance Parks as the A/CEO during the week of 16 February.

“I have been following the comments on the Remembrance our Loved Ones Facebook page and was pleased to see comments from members of the page saying they wanted to meet with me face to face.

“I see meeting and listening to the community as a priority for me.  It is only by listening to families and understanding their experience and how it impacted their lives that I will be able to do the role I have been asked to do to the best of my ability.

“I have spoken at length to all of our staff members and read online the impact that this issue has had, but in my experience, nothing replaces meeting with people face to face.  I also want to give anyone who wants to share something with me the courtesy of listening.

“I have learnt that its important every voice gets heard not just the loudest or more able ones,” Ms O’Keefe said.

The community meetings will be hosted by Maureen at the Lakeside Hotel, maximum 15 people per meeting:

Monday 27 February – 10:30am

Tuesday 28 February – 3:30pm

Wednesday 1 March – 8:30am

Wednesday 1 March – 7:00pm

More sessions will be added if required.

The meetings are reserved for families with loved ones where items were removed from graves.
