The Country Fire Authority (CFA) in Victoria has predicted an ‘Extreme’ Fire Danger for Central Victoria on 28 February 2024. There is a high likelihood that this rating will elevate to that of ‘Catastrophic’.

Whilst these situations are rare, the Bureau of Meteorology has not ruled out the fire risk reaching catastrophic levels for parts of Victoria on Wednesday.

Given this situation and in accordance with our Total Fire Ban Policy, all cemeteries under management by RPCV will be closed on this day due to the forecast significant fire danger rating.

Services scheduled prior to midday on this day will proceed as planned. All services scheduled after midday on this day will be re-scheduled. Signage will be erected at each cemetery to inform visitors of the closure.

The closure of cemeteries and re-scheduling of services helps to protect the safety and wellbeing of our Grounds-Team.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and appreciate your cooperation in prioritising safety for all during this time.
