Sunbury Cemetery is set to enter a new era of care and community connection, with Remembrance Parks Central Victoria (RPCV) officially appointed to manage the site following authorisation by Minister for Health the Hon. Ingrid Stitt MLC and approval by the Governor in Council on 22 October 2026.
The decision formalises a trusted partnership spanning more than six years. RPCV has managed the cemetery’s operations and administration under a service agreement with the Sunbury Cemetery Trust, which unanimously supported the transfer of management to RPCV in April 2026.
RPCV Chief Executive Officer Lauretta Stace said the appointment would provide continuity for families while creating new opportunities for the cemetery’s future.
“Sunbury Cemetery holds deep meaning for local families, and it is a privilege to be entrusted with its care,” Ms Stace said.
“We will honour the cemetery’s history while building on the strong foundations already in place—providing high-quality burial and memorialisation services with care, dignity and respect, and ensuring the cemetery continues to serve the community for generations to come.”
RPCV will mark the new chapter with a community open day at Sunbury Cemetery on Thursday, 5 November 2026. Residents are invited to meet the RPCV team, hear about future plans for the cemetery and learn more about the burial and memorialisation services available. This marks an important and exciting step in RPCV’s development and growth as the organisation officially expands its presence in the southern central region of Victoria.
