About
Wallan Cemetery has served the Wallan community for more than 165 years and is an important part of the history and identity of the township.
Established in the 1850s, the cemetery dates from the earliest years of Wallan's development. Its original trustees represented the Anglican, Roman Catholic and Presbyterian communities, reflecting the role the cemetery played in serving the growing township and surrounding district.

The cemetery is of historical significance for its association with the early settlement and development of Wallan and as the resting place of generations of local families. Its collection of historic graves and monuments, mature trees and traditional cemetery landscape also contribute to its distinctive character.
Today, the cemetery continues to be a place of remembrance, reflection and connection for the Wallan community. As Wallan continues to grow and change, Remembrance Parks Central Victoria is committed to caring for the cemetery's history and character while planning thoughtfully for its future.
