Lawn Graves

Pre-installed concrete beams offer secure support for bronze, aluminium, and granite plaques into perpetuity. Traditionally used for burials, ashes can also be interred in lawn graves and a plaque placed in remembrance.

Lawn graves at Bendigo are available at need or preneed. Currently the Watson Lawn is the place of most burials at our Bendigo site.
Each lawn grave position can accommodate up to three burials and six ashes interments.

Plaque Options:

A range of bronze, aluminium and granite plaques are available in varying sizes.

– Most commonly a 381 x 279mm bronze plaque is chosen

Please note: no upright headstones are permitted on lawn graves

Monumental Graves

Bendigo’s historical monumental burial section has interments dating back to the 1850s.

The monumental section, with its rich history and heritage, is still used for burials today, with many positions available across the site.

Monumental graves allow for a range of diverse memorials, including upright headstones and grand monuments spanning across one or more graves.

Bronze and aluminium plaques on concrete bases can also be arranged through RPCV as memorials for monumental graves. RPCV have helped many families recognise their ancestors’ graves through this kind of memorialisation.

Niche Walls – Dyett Garden

Two niche walls are located within the Dyett Gardens at Bendigo.

In the ‘large’ niche wall, one niche has room to hold one full set of adult ashes, which is securely sealed inside the wall by a 160 x 205 mm bronze plaque.

The ‘small’ niche wall has the traditional interment space, meaning each niche will hold a half set of adult ashes. This is a favoured option for some families that would like to keep or scatter a portion of ash. Ashes are sealed inside the wall by a 152 x 152 mm bronze plaque.

Please note: ‘large’ and ‘small’ refer to the size of the plaque, not the size of the wall.

Native Garden – Dyett Garden

The Dyett Gardens are situated along the edges of Dyett Lawn at Bendigo and feature rose gardens, weeping roses, a memorial lawn, 2 niche walls and a native garden.

The native garden is shaded by towering gum trees and features a variety of native shrub species, providing vibrant green foliage year-round.

Shrub positions are currently available, each position allows for the interment of two sets of ashes and two plaques.

Plaque Options:

152 x 152mm bronze or aluminium plaque, mounted on a granite block

160 x 205mm bronze or aluminium plaque, mounted on a granite block

205 x 160mm bronze or aluminium plaque, mounted on a granite block

Granite is available in grey, red and black

Memorial Lawn – Dyett Garden

The memorial lawn at Bendigo is located at the base of the ‘small’ niche wall. Ashes may be scattered on the lawn, and a memorial plaque adhered to the wall.

Each position in the memorial lawn accommodates one set of ash and one memorial plaque.

Plaque Options:

152 x 152mm bronze or aluminium plaque, mounted on the memorial wall position.

Weeping Roses – Flood Garden

With their elegance and beauty, weeping roses offer a timeless memorial option.

‘General’ weeping rose positions are available, accommodating the interment of two sets of ashes and the placement of two plaques.

Weeping roses are also able to be purchased as ‘exclusive’ weeping roses, where all positions for a weeping rose are purchased as a collective. This allows for the interment of up to eight sets of ashes and the placement of eight memorial plaques.

Plaque Options:

152 x 152mm bronze or aluminium plaque, mounted on a concrete or granite block

205 x 160mm bronze or aluminium plaque, mounted on a concrete or granite block

Granite is available in grey, red and black

Maps

A few years ago, the names of the lawn sections at each Remembrance Park were re-named to honour local people of the region that have made a significant contribution to the area.

Previously, lawns were numbered or lettered as a form of identification.

A comprehensive list of the old and new names can be found on our Fact Sheet No 4 here.
